Lesson Planning Backwards: Starting From the Assessment, Not the Activity
Most lesson plans in Indian classrooms are built forward. A teacher decides on an activity, a worksheet, a group discussion, a demonstration, delivers it, and only afterward writes or selects the assessment that checks whether it worked. This ordering feels natural, but it produces a recurring problem: the assessment often measures something slightly different from what the activity actually taught, and the gap only becomes visible when scores come back lower than expected.
